Internationalization of high-end Italian family wine business
International Marketing Trend Conference 2016, Venice, January 21st-23rd 2016
“Internationalization of Family Business in High-Range Italian Wine: the Perspective of Some Italian Key Players”
Some interesting remarks extrapolated from the abstract:
Italian wine positioning
“Italy and France share the leadership of the world wine exports in 2014, with a significant difference: Italy leads in export volumes (20.5 against 14.7 million hl of France); France in revenues (7.94 billion € against 5.11 billion € of Italy). The internationalization strategies of Italian wine are still influenced by a positioning problem, expressed by the average export price: € 2.49/liter of Italian wine against € 5,4/liter of French wine, compared to a world average export price of € 2.6/liter”

LIDL, Primitivo and Negroamaro below 2 € are not poisonous
Primitivo del Salento IGT (2014, 14% alcohol) and Negroamaro del Salento IGT (2014, 13% alcohol) are both private labels for the supermarket chain LIDL, and both priced below 2 € on the shelves.
They are not fine wines but with surprise they are not poisonous wines as well.

Antinori winery in Chianti Classico tour
Entering into the Antinori winery in Chianti Classico means to become a part of an adventure which winds you through six centuries of history of the Antinori family and their passion in producing wine.
A path that is, at the same time, historical and emotional, technical and architectural, culminating in a tasting of our wines.
The winery visit starts in the Auditorium where is shown the short movie “The Antinori. Vintners since 1385”. Then Barricaia (barrique) cellar tour summarizes the production process through the main phases of vinification and ageing. The visit finishes with a tasting of three wines which represent the territory:
- Castello della Sala, Bramito Chardonnay Umbria IGT 2014
- Antinori, Pèppoli Chianti Classico DOCG 2013
- Antinori, Villa Antinori Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG 2012
